2008 Sponsored Walk

For a bit of fun, and to tempt a few more of you to empty your pockets for a great cause, we're doing a 'Guess-the-Steps' competition this year. Mike Warrick will be taking his trusty pedometer and keeping count of his total paces along the way. Have a guess at the final number of steps he takes and the nearest will win 40% of the pot, up to a maximum of £100. Entry is just £1 per guess so why not have a crack at a possible £100 - five chances for a fiver can’t be a bad shout. Prize money will be split in the event of more than one winner.

As a guide, Google shows the road distance from The Meadow to Creasey Park as 16.8 miles. So you can start to do the maths with 1760 yards or 1609 metres in a mile. We’ll be going cross country though and you’ll have to judge whether Mike will take long ranging strides or dainty little steps. And of course whether he’ll be going miles off track in search of drinking holes and maybe even further off track as a result of visiting them! All the remaining money will be split between raising funds for Heritage House School and disabled access facilities at Chesham United.

Yes, those fools at Chesham United Supporters' Trust are digging out the walking boots again and heading off on foot to the away match at Dunstable on Saturday 26th April. Thanks to everyone's generous support, last year we were able to donate £1,900 to the Iain Rennie Hospice Appeal and this time we have chosen to support the fantastic work undertaken by Heritage House School in Chesham. Half the money raised will be donated to the school with the remainder earmarked for improvements to facilities for disabled visitors at The Meadow.
